John Samels (PAPER TIGER) is a New York-based electronic music composer and founding member of the Doomtree hip hop collective. His music has been featured on Billboard Top 200 albums, film, television, and performed by the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra. Pitchfork describes his sound as “crisp drums, excellent production, and interesting mixes”.
Samels' compositions include the original score for HBO’s Rock in a Hard Place and BBC Radio 4’s The New Gurus podcast, along with brand collaborations such as Nike, The New Yorker, and Beats By Dre. As a live DJ and producer he has toured internationally, including performances at Glastonbury, Lalapalooza, SXSW, X–Games, and Riot Fest.
